Plant Community Walk: Devil's Punchbowl

Join us for a casual, educational botany walk at Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area. This fantastic geological wonder exists where desert, montane and chaparral plant communities collide. The park and it’s wonderful visitor center burned in the Bobcat Fire in 2020, but much of the ecology is in recovery. Some noteworthy plants which characterize the area include Flannel Bush, Joshua Tree, Juniper and Pinyon Pine.

Meeting Location: 28000 Devil’s Punchbowl Rd., Pearblossom, CA 93553

Meeting day/time: Sunday March 1, 2026. 10:00AM. Walk will begin promptly at 10:15AM, so don’t be late!

Bring and wear sun protection including a hat, long sleeves and sun screen. Wear closed toed shoes suitable for trail walking, and bring water and snacks to carry.

Plant Community Walk - Santa Susana Pass

Join us for a casual walk in Santa Susana State Historic Park where PCLA Director Parker Davis will lead our group through this surreal setting characterized by cretaceous era sandstone boulders and sagescrub, including a unique subspecies of monkeyflower only found in this location.

Meeting Location: 7700 Lilac Ln, Simi Valley, CA 93063

Walk will begin promptly at 10:15AM - Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes suitable for trail walking and sun protection. Bring water.

Join our amazing gardeners on Wednesday, May 8, from 10:30AM-12:30PM in tending our beautification garden at Hamilton Elementary School. Activities will include planting native plants, watering the garden, and removing weeds. Please bring your own gloves, sun hat, and water. There will be limited shade, so sunscreen and sun-protective clothing are recommended. Breaks are encouraged!
